The Learning Center Committee has completed the reorganization of all of the books in the Greta and Hy Berkowitz Learning Center, making it easier to check if we carry a book in a certain subject and where to find it. In addition to books of scholarly and general interest, Temple has an antique and rare book collection. The Learning Center is also increasing its collection of audio and video tapes, and has a broad selection of newspapers and periodicals. The library contains over 4,000 titles, a wide variety of books of Jewish content from adult fiction, adult biographies, youth and elementary books.
The learning center also has a wealth of reference materials for use on site in our computer center. We have nearly 100 programs ranging from biblical reference materials to teach your self Hebrew to educational games.
Temple Emanuel has retained an open door policy to our Learning Center for our congregants as well as for the community at large. The Greta and Hy Berkowitz Learning Center is open the same hours as the Temple office, and books may be checked out for a month at a time.
The Greta and Hy Berkowitz Learning Center welcomes volunteers to enter new books into the database, shelve books and help us expand our services. We also appreciate donations of appropriate books and periodicals.
Temple Emanual also has historical archives available by appointment for academic research.
